Intensive use was made of the summer months to put the finishing touches on the Smaragdbahn. The project involved remodeling the valley terminal, construction of a station for rolling stock at the mountain terminal and various upgrades that included new winch batteries. Now with 118 8-seater cabins (formerly 94 -8-seaters), the passenger capacity has been increased to 2000 people per hour. Waiting times are a thing of the past. Upgrades to the winch batteries reduced susceptibility to stormy weather. In unsafe weather conditions closer to the summit, the 2 sections can be decoupled, allowing ski operations to continue in the lower reaches of the mountain. The two-storey mountain terminal has now been clad in a wood and glass structure.

Guests of Wildkogel-Arena can now purchase the ticket for their ski holiday completely contact-free, from the comfort of their own home. Simply select the tickets you want online and have them sent by post to your home address, use the ski pass number to recharge the key card you already have, or pick up your ticket at one of the 2 ticket machines located at the valley stations. This also means that you can head straight for the pistes the minute you arrive. Incidentally, ticket machines are available at both valley stations for you to buy ski tickets around the clock.

Usable without an Internet connection, it provides you with complete info about lift schedules, tobbogan runs, current weather conditions, news, plus an SOS emergency feature as well as panorama cameras.
