The Tauern Bike Path

By bicycle next to the water, through beautiful and idyllic landscapes

In Krimml, the place where you can gaze on the highest waterfalls in all of Europe, you will also find the start of the Tauern Bike Path, a 270 km-long bicycle tour that takes you from Neukirchen or Bramberg to Zell am See, then on to Salzburg and ultimately across the border into Germany. It is even possible to continue your journey to Passau, in which case the Tauern Bike Path is 310 km in total length.

The mostly paved trails alongside the Salzach and Saalach rivers, along with clear signs from start to finish, guarantee fantastic cycling enjoyment along the Tauern Bike Path - including with your whole family. Due to the fact that the route is generally downhill when you ride in the direction we have suggested, you only have to deal with isolated uphill stages.

The Tauern Bike Path takes you through enchanting forests and valleys. Along the way, you encounter imposing castles and palaces, beautiful cities, and countless opportunities for rewarding stop-offs.
